Yes...sorta...probably. I mean, there is clearly enough clearance, torque (renegade’s problem) and traction to force it to do the occasional mild trail, but I have to wonder how its going to hold up to that kind of abuse. My guess is that the transmission is going to hate you pretty quickly if you did this even semi-often. Its hard on transmission fluid to be subject to this kind of out of lock TC slipping, that plus the fact that I suspect that the rear drive unit is also cooled with trans fluid (and that it also requires slipping to work) makes me wonder if doing this is a good idea at all, even if it “can” do it.

While I presume the Oddessyamino can handle something other than backing into the yard to offload mulch from Lowes I believe you hit all the major failure points. Given Honda’s transmission of luck of late this will be the offroad version of “press your luck”

Le first gen Ridgeline, when driven in a field and into rocks hiding in said field, is susceptible to cracking of le aluminum oil pan. Yep, somebody I know did that.

“There was a little bit of rubbing on the bottom.”

That indicates to me there isn’t enough ground clearance. I watched a guy scrape the living bejeesus out of the bottom of his late model Forester on the Arches 4wd trail yesterday. Definitely don’t want any rubbing if the road is mostly rock.

I then promptly dropped part of my Jeeps subframe into some rock when I misjudged how much ground clearance I had. Luckily I was only about 1/8" off and moving slow.

yeah, lack of protection is first clue. I think the new one is the same. Then again, a Z71 Colorado duramax lacks a [trans] sump skid as well (amazingly)

You were on the 4wheel drive road yesterday? Jelly, I love that road. Going south to north, or vise versa?

I had been calling the Ridgeline the Ridgessy but Oddessyamino is much better.

Yeah. I camped in Arches all weekend. I’m not really a 4wd guy, but I figured since I was up there with my Jeep I might as well drive some of it. It rained all weekend and I was loaded down with my kids in the car so I didn’t do very much of it at all. I was planning on running from north to south, but I ended up just driving as far as I could from Salt Valley Rd. to Tower Arch. The rain had eroded away a section of the trail, and it looked like it would be a doozy to get back up so I turned around about halfway there. I’m pretty green when it comes to 4 wheeling like this so I didn’t want to push it. I saw one decked out Land Cruiser on the trail.

The trail from salt valley to tower arch is pretty legit but I preferred the run back on 4 wheel drive road more. Super cool. What hereto are you driving again? Also I’m amazed salt valley road was passable after that rain

Yeah, I really wanted to do that run back. I have a manual ‘11 Wrangler Sport. It has a little meatier tires on it, but that’s it. I’ll post up some vids of me on the trail in a bit, including the one of me screwing up.

Here is a really cool double trail you can string together of that area. Klondike bluffs to tower arch, shows the tower arch trail in some detail. Links to good parts of the video are in the description
